- Osh State University was established in 24th May, 1951. The Kirghiz SSR founded the university in 1939 as a teacher training institution, which was later upgraded to a complete educational establishment in 1951. In 1992, the institute was granted full university status.
- Medical practitioners in general practise and paediatrics are trained at Osh State Medical University. In recent years, Osh State Medical University has enrolled around 28000 students, with around 13000 international students. Osh State University is a great option for international students because of its highly competent and well-trained professors with in-depth knowledge of the course and affordable fees.

- From 2019 it is mandatory to pass the NEET exam in order to study in any country abroad .
- Students must have finished a regular board or university's 10th +2 or equivalent.
- If the student is from the SC/OBC/ST Category, they must earn at least 40% in Physics, Biology, and Chemistry in their 12th grade, and English must be a compulsory subject.
