BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery) is a bachelor's degree program in the field of Unani Medicine and Surgery. The BUMS degree incorporates medical knowledge of the Unani system. This degree is enough to become a doctor (Hakim) in the Unani medical field. Unani is the system of alternative medicines, patients are taken care of by increasing the natural healing power of the human body. This degree is awarded after completion of a 5.5-year academic program with a 4 to the 5-year academic session and a 1-year internship program with a live practical program. After MBBS, NEET is also being made mandatory for AYUSH medical course. Secretary of, Department of AYUSH, Rajesh Katoch said that from the next session, students will have to pass the NEET test for admission in studies of Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathy, Siddha, etc. They must pass the NEET exam with at least 50 percent marks.
