About the Institute :-

    • Since its establishment in 1982, the Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences (NAIHS) has established itself as one of the leading institutes in the field of health professions education, obtaining exceptional outcomes in final board examinations. The Tri-Chandra Military Hospital (TCMH) was one of the most modern hospitals of its day, having been founded in 1925 AD (BS 1982) in remembrance of Nepalese troops who sacrificed their lives in the First Great War. TCMH is known for several things, including its historical significance and architectural splendour. It was the country’s first hospital to offer fibre optic endoscope services and set up a semi-automated pathology lab.
    • In 1989, its enhanced services were relocated to Shree Birendra Hospital (SBH) in Chhauni, Kathmandu, bringing with it new technology and treatment techniques such as MRI and Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL), as well as the first multislice Helical CT in Nepal. The conversion of TCMH services to SBH and the subsequent deployment of NAIHS on this basis are regarded important turning points in the Nepalese Army Medical Corps’ history (NAMC).
