New guidelines for JEE Mains 2021:
- Candidate can apply for one session or more than one Session (February/March /April /May 2021) together and pay exam fee accordingly.
- If a candidate wishes to apply only for one Session, he / she has to pay Examination Fee only for that Session during the current application period and will have opportunity to apply again for the remaining March/ April / May Sessions
- Incase a candidate does not want to appear in the Session for which fee has already been paid, it will be refunded by NTA
- Candidates who apply for more than one Session of examination (February/March/April/May), may change their Choice of Cities in the correction window, which will be opened in due course under intimation to them through Public Notice for each Session.
- The application window will be re-opened briefly immediately after the declaration of the result of February / March/ April Session.

- Candidates who have passed their Class 12 examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2019 or 2020 or 2021 are eligible.
- Those who are appearing in their Class 12 examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2021 are also eligible to appear in January and April session.
- Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2018 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2022 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main)–2021.
- Candidates who have passed their Class 12 examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2019 or 2020 or 2021 are eligible.
- Those who are appearing in their Class 12 examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2021 are also eligible to appear in January and April session.
- Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2018 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2022 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main)–2021.

- To appear in JEE Mains, the minimum qualifying marks (for admission to NITs, IIITs, IITs, and CFTIs) that aspirants require is 75 per cent or
- Candidates should be in the top 20 percentile in the Class 12 exam conducted by respective Boards.
- For reserved candidates, the minimum qualifying marks is 65 per cent.

- 10% seats will be reserved for the Category General- Economically Weaker Section (GEN-EWS),
- 15% seats will be reserved for the Category of Scheduled Caste (SCs),
- 7.5% seats will be reserved for the Category of Scheduled Tribes (STs),
- 27% seats will be reserved for the Category of Other Backward Classes belonging to the "Non- Creamy Layer" (OBC-NCL),
- Each Category will have 5% reservations for Persons with Disabilities (Pwd)

It depends only from where the candidate have passed Class 12th Examination. If a candidate has passed Class XII (or equivalent) qualifying examination from one State but appeared for improvement from another State, the candidate’s State code of eligibility will be from where the candidate first passed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination and NOT the State from where the candidate has appeared for improvement.
