- Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal announced that the JEE Main 2020 will now be held in September. The JEE Main entrance exam will be held from September 1 to 6 and JEE Advanced will be held on September 27.

The organizing institute, IIT Delhi, has released the JEE Advanced 2020 qualifying cut off in the Information Brochure. Candidates are required to qualify JEE Advanced 2020 individually for all three subjects and also aggregate for all three subjects to qualify the exam. Qualifying cut offs shall be different for various category. Only the qualifying candidates will be included in Rank List and will be eligible for admissions in IITs. - Joint Implementation Committee of JEE (Advanced) 2020 will decide the cut off marks for passing Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT).
- Candidates securing marks above the cut-off will be declared “Pass” in the test. There is no separate ranking in the AAT. There is no separate cut-off for students of any category.

- Only those candidates who will appear in both the Papers (i.e., Paper 1 and Paper 2) shall be considered for ranking.

- Marks scored by a candidate in any subject in JEE Advanced 2020 shall be the sum of the marks obtained by the candidate in that particular subject in both Paper 1 and Paper 2.
- Rank Lists are prepared on the basis of aggregate marks in JEE Advanced 2020. Aggregate marks obtained by the candidate in JEE Advanced 2020 is sum of the marks obtained in all the three subjects – Physics, Chemistry & Maths.
- Rank List for Preparatory Courses will be for SC, ST and PwD candidates of each category who will satisfy the prescribed relaxed criteria given on the table above.

- Candidates having higher positive marks will be given higher ranks, or
- Candidates with higher marks in Mathematics will be given higher ranks, or
