Hostels: Every student at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad is given a spacious room on a twin-sharing basis on a twin-sharing
basis. Each room comes equipped with the the requisite amount of lighting and electrical ports, a fan, a chair, a
table and a cot. The toilets and bathrooms are shared (with about 4 available for every 16 rooms on an
average). Eachh hostel has its own history and unique facilities, but all of them have the basics i.e. a mess, a
canteen, a juice center, a stationary shop, a TV room, an indoor sports room, and laundry facilities. There are 7
boys’ and 4 girls’ hostels, with an entirely separate one for the international students. With the institute
possessing a rich history in the field of Earth Science's, the hostels are considered to be its gems and are
henceforth named on precious stones as Opal, Topaz, Sapphire, Diamond, Amber etc. A few additional hostels
are being constructed to accommodate the ever-increasing advent of students.
