- Lviv National Medical University traces its origins back to the medical faculty of Lviv University, which was established on November 16, 1784, with the permission of Austrian Emperor Joseph II.
- Lviv Medical University was renamed Lviv Medical Institute in the autumn of 1939. The University of Lviv created a separate organisation for the Faculty of Medicine. The institute was transformed to a university in 1996, and the name was changed to Lviv State Medical University.
- Lviv National Medical University consists of 77 departments (47 clinical and 19 support for higher medical educational institutions in Ukraine), 6 faculties, a medical college, 14 educational buildings.

- If the student is in the General category, he or she must have a minimum of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, as well as English as a compulsory subject.
- From 2019 it is mandatory to pass the NEET exam in order to study in any country abroad .
- Students must have finished a regular board or university's 10th +2 or equivalent.
- If the student is from the SC/OBC/ST Category, they must earn at least 40% in Physics, Biology, and Chemistry in their 12th grade, and English must be a compulsory subject.
- In India, there are no entrance exams such as IELTS or SAT. NEET certification is required.
- The student must be at least 17 years old on December 31st of the year in which admission is sought.
