  • Official notice on CLAT 2020 exam: “The CLAT 2020 shall be conducted through a computer-based, online, centre-based test to be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020”.
  • The last date for online applications for CLAT is extended to July 10, 2020.
  • Due to the current situation of COVID-19, the Executive Committee of the Consortium of National Law Universities has extended the last date of online Application Form for CLAT 2020 to 1st July, 2020.

This year the admissions to UG courses at participating institutes shall be organized by NUSLR, Ranchi via CLAT Centralised Online Counselling after the declaration of CLAT 2020 Result.

A total of 21 NLUs and 47 other private Institutes are participating in CLAT Counselling 2020.
The counselling will comprises of total three seat allotments and students will be called accordingly.

CLAT Counselling consists of 5 steps which have been enumerated below:CLAT Counselling consists of 5 steps which have been enumerated below:

Step 1 : Publication of 1st Merit List

  • The competent authority will declare an institute-wise merit list for each NLU on the basis of the All India Rank and preference made by the candidate during the Application Form fill up.
  • This list will be available on the official website – consortiumofnlus.ac.in
  • Candidate will have to check whether their name is present in the list or not as the counselling for the First Round will be conduct on the basis of this list.
  • The competent authority will declare an institute-wise merit list for each NLU on the basis of the All India Rank and preference made by the candidate during the Application Form fill up.
  • This list will be available on the official website – consortiumofnlus.ac.in
  • Candidate will have to check whether their name is present in the list or not as the counselling for the First Round will be conduct on the basis of this list.

Step 2 : Payment of Counselling Fees

  • Candidates who have been provisionally shortlisted in the First Merit List will have to pay requisite counselling fees of Rs. 50000 that will be later adjusted with their academic fees.
  • The Counselling Fees paid by the candidate will be send to transferred to the participating Institute in which the candidate will take admission after the completion of the admission process.
  • Shortlisted candidates who will fail to deposit the counselling fees within the specified time period will not be considered for CLAT Counselling and also their names will be dropped from the merit list.
  • Candidates who have been provisionally shortlisted in the First Merit List will have to pay requisite counselling fees of Rs. 50000 that will be later adjusted with their academic fees.
  • The Counselling Fees paid by the candidate will be send to transferred to the participating Institute in which the candidate will take admission after the completion of the admission process.

  • Lock : This option is exercised by those candidates who want to confirm their admission in the allotted NLU. Such candidates will not be considered for the two other subsequent rounds.
  • Upward Shifting : This option is opened to the candidates in the second round of counselling. It is only open for those students who have participated in the first round of counselling and still haven’t locked their seats. The seats are offered to the candidates automatically against any vacancy arising in the preferred NLU through his/ her choice via subsequent allotment list. Once the candidates makes a choice, he/she cannot change it.
  • Withdraw Option : Candidates can exercise this option in two ways:
  • Lock : This option is exercised by those candidates who want to confirm their admission in the allotted NLU. Such candidates will not be considered for the two other subsequent rounds.

In both these cases, the Consortium of National Law Universities will deduct Rs. 10,000/- as a processing fee.   • The waiting list candidates will have to pay the counselling fees of Rs. 50,000/- within the specified time period to reserve the seat.
  • In case of withdrawal, an amount of Rs.10,000/- will be deducted as processing fees and the rest amount of Rs.40,000/- will be refunded. However, in case of withdrawal after a specified time period, whole amount of Rs.50,000/- will be fortified.

  • After seat allotment, candidates have to report to the allotted NLUs for further admission formalities like document verification and payment of remaining admission fees.
  • Carry original copies alongwith the xerox copies of all the relevant documents mentioned below at the time of admission in NLUs.
  • If any candidate fails to report at the allotted NLU for document verification then his/ her candidature will be cancelled.
  • After seat allotment, candidates have to report to the allotted NLUs for further admission formalities like document verification and payment of remaining admission fees.
  • Carry original copies alongwith the xerox copies of all the relevant documents mentioned below at the time of admission in NLUs.
  • If any candidate fails to report at the allotted NLU for document verification then his/ her candidature will be cancelled.

  • An affidavit by the sponsor indicating the interest shown in the education affairs of the student and willingness to fund the education of student over the next 5 years.
